Pay it Forward Pagosa Mission Statement PDF   E-mail
Pay it Forward, Pagosa Series, is a group of individuals who believe that a collaborative effort of people who care about the quality of life in Archuleta County can make a difference in the financial health of several very important area groups who rely on the healthy financial situation of Archuleta County government directly for funding, or upon a healthy economy in Archuleta County for citizens and business contributions. The purpose of the organization is to give all the citizens of Archuleta County numerous opportunities to participate in a combination of fun and fundraising events designed to benefit many different area groups either by producing a fundraising event for a specific group or groups, or by providing a free venue for area groups to conduct their own fundraising event or promote a future fundraising campaign.

Pay it Forward, Pagosa Series hopes to foster a sense of community responsibility through positive constructive action dedicated to problem-solving and coming together to have fun. The structure of the organization is somewhat flexible due to the nature of its goals; people who wish to participate are invited to join in. The organization will continue to exist as long as it is a positive, fun experience for those involved, the community supports the events by either coming out or by advertising or both, and the groups that need help are benefiting from the experience. Right now the venue being utilized for the events is Stage Under the Stars, which is free to any group that wishes to use it for fundraising. However, this location is only available until late fall. Once the venue is no longer available, the group might consider looking for additional locations for events into the winter but only if demand and support are there and everyone is still having fun.

What the PiFPS group wants you to know: (1) Pay it Forward, Pagosa Series has been organized under the umbrella of a 501 (c) 3 so all donations are tax deductible; (2) 100% of all funds raised go to the organizations benefiting, (after costs of music, food advertising, etc.) are paid. There is no charge for the use of the venue because those costs will be covered by those businesses that agree to advertise at the venue. Those businesses will have a presence in the form of their banner that is displayed at every event, as well as repeated appearances in other advertising utilized by the group, and an aggressive campaign of encouraging local citizen support of those businesses who have stepped up to help by advertising. No one involved in the production of these events is making money on this; expenses are being kept to a minimum so al the money collected after payment of the cost of the event goes to the benefiting organization. Those businesses and individuals who donate silent auction items will also be recognized for their generosity at the events. So far, venue sponsors are: The Red Hat Society, who is raising their sponsership fee by doing a garage sale (way to go, ladies!), Prudential Triple S Realty, ReMax Eagles Nest Realty, Boss Hogg’s, Jem Jewelers, TreeTops of Pagosa, Four Seasons Real Estate, Walter Moore Chiropractic Wellness Centre, and Astara’s Boutique. Donors of auction items so far are: Astara’s Boutique, Jem Jewelers, Goodman’s Department Store, 50’s Something Ice Cream Parlor, Higher
Grounds, Kathy Conway, The Club, Pagosa Samuri Academy, Keyah Grande, Pagosa Springs Golf Club, Studio 160, Liberty Theater, Chrissy Karas, Larry Bartel, Life Expansion Center, Pilates Reformer, Pagosa Photography, Never Ending Nail File, The Plaid Pony,  Snips, Lantern Dancer, and the Plaza Grill.
