James (Buz) Gillentine of Colorado Loan Consultants
James (Buz) Gillentine of Colorado Loan Consultants
James (Buz) Gillentine, of Colorado Loan Consultants, comes from a long line of men who have the entrapaneurial spirit that this country was built on. Buz’s Grandfather owned a grocery store in Wellington, Texas and his father was in publishing in Hereford, Texas. They worked hard, worked smart and never forgot that there had to be time taken for themselves and their families. This is how Buz was first introduced to Pagosa Springs, CO. Buz’s Grandfather and father spent most of the year with his business but took the summers to camp, hike and fish in the Colorado and New Mexico area. One of those trips brought his family to Pagosa Springs and built strong memories for Buz. Years later, Buz and his wife Julie were talking about moving away from the Dallas area. Julie wanted to move to Santa Fe, New Mexico but Buz wanted to find a place with a quieter lifestyle. So they started visiting many areas in the New MexicoColorado area.

On one such trip, they went to visit a friend in Durango who suggested that they drive to Pagosa and look it over. As they were driving through town memories started flooding in. “I would drive past an area and know that I had seen it before.” Buz stated as he recalled that first trip into Pagosa as an adult. His sister would later remind him of the two trips they took as a family to the Pagosa area. “She told me about that after our second vacation here, Dad wanted to sell everything and move to Pagosa Springs. If my mother hadn’t been so opposed to the idea, I could have grown up here.”

Buz and Julie left Pagosa and made the choice to move back as soon as possible. Shortly after that trip, they had all their business settled in Dallas and, with the help of Sharon Case from Eagleview Management, had found a home. By October 1997, they were settled in Pagosa Springs.

Since settling in our town, Buz Gillentine has been an active participant in the Community Services arena. Along with the many little projects Buz has helped with, he has also been a Board Member of the United Way, the President of the San Juan Mountains Association, a Volunteer Guide at Chimney Rock, a member of the Friend of Native Culture and the President of the Pagosa Springs Rotary Club. Along with all this, Buz also has a radio show that airs at 9:05a.m. every Wednesday entitled ‘The Changing Face of Pagosa’. His purpose with this show is to dispel the many rumors that float around town.

In 2003 Buz began his career as a loan originator and business consultant. His involvement with Colorado Loan Consultants, LLC began in December of 2005 and he been a Managing Partner of this mortgage firm since January of 2006. Buz and his team of Colorado Loan Consultants specialize in doing re-evaluations. “We consult with people. Guide them through a logical process of where they are and where they want to go and then walk with them step by step to get them there.” Getting a decent share of the Pagosa mortgage business, the Colorado Loan Consultants team can close as quickly as 5 days on a clean loan. However, closing time is often determined by factors outside their control, like appraisals.

ImageA visit at Colorado Loan Consultants, located at 475 Lewis Street, Suite 100, will not only help you look at your mortgage options in today’s financial world, but will help you gain insight into the path you are taking.

As you can see, Buz has been and still is an important member of our community, not only involved with his own business affairs but very involved in serving the community with his expertise and knowledge.
