A Good Weekend Trip Away From Pagosa |

 So, what do you do when you want to take a quick trip away from Pagosa? You do not want to drive far? You only have one day and one night? Creede, Colorado is a perfect quick getaway.
The historic town of Creede is about 65 miles southwest of Pagosa Springs. Simply take a quick trip on East 160, then at South Fork go north on 149. The trip in itself is quite beautiful.
Once you arrive in Creede, it is a good idea to swing by the Visitors Center where valuable information can be obtained about the town, as well as a very informative guide to the Bachelor Historic Loop.
This Tour Route was my main focus when reaching Creede. It is 17 miles long and travels numerous points of interest including Equity Mine, Amethyst Mine, and Creede Cemetery.
While the road is available for regular passenger car, if you do not have a four wheel drive expect to go into low gear as it is very steep in places, windy and unpaved. The guide suggests and hour for the route - I took nearly three hours to complete it.
After completing the route I checked into the Showshoe Lodge and Bed & Breakfast. While not a fancy establishment, they made me feel quite at home and I really enjoyed my stay there.
